- Long study hours are required to clear NEET: No doubt NEET is a highly competitive exam and requires a lot of hard work. But merely hard work and long sitting hours are not sufficient for NEET. Candidates need proper planning as well as a clear strategy to obtain good marks in NEET. Moreover, sitting for long hours can reduce efficiency as well as cause fatigue. NEET aspirants should prioritize quality and consistency over quantity of study.
- Only top students can clear NEET: Aspirants from the UR category need only 50% marks, whereas candidates of the reserved category require 40% marks in class 12th to appear in NEET. Therefore, this is an absolute myth that only top students can clear NEET; anyone who has clarity in concepts and does hard work can clear NEET.
- MBBS is only for rich: MBBS from private institutions can be a costly affair for some of the students. However, MBBS from government institutions is not so costly. Top institutes like AIIMS also offer various scholarships for the students, making it accessible for a wider range of students
- Ignoring NCERT won’t affect the performance in NEET: This is absolutely wrong. Most of the questions in NEET come from NCERT only. Therefore, ignoring NCERT can be a blunder. NCERT provides a solid foundation for NEET; therefore, NEET aspirants should prioritize NCERT for NEET.
- NEET is very difficult: There is no doubt that NEET is a highly competitive examination, and only a few candidates can make it to an MBBS seat in a government medical college, but that doesn’t mean that it is next to impossible to get an MBBS seat in a government medical college. Proper planning and dedication can help aspirants to secure a seat in their favourite medical college.
- Drop is mandatory: In present time, most of the aspirants prefer to take year drop, however it is not mandatory to take year drop. If the aspirants work hard from class 11th itself, do proper time management, focus on conceptual clarity, and attempt a mock test, then it is possible to clear NEET with a good rank along with class 12th.
- Only Biology is enough to get good rank in NEET: Most of the aspirants feel that scoring good marks in Biology (Zoology + Botany) would help them to secure an MBBS seat in their favourite medical college. This is absolutely wrong. Biology covers a major portion, but solely biology is not enough for NEET. Candidates need to focus on other subjects like physics and chemistry in order to get selected in their favourite medical college. Physics and chemistry are very important in deciding rank in NEET.

Also, buying extra books creates an economic burden on aspirants, and hence it should be avoided. The third reason is that searching for books takes the crucial time of aspirants, which they could use in studying something important. The fourth reason is that not every book is designed as per the syllabus of NEET, and following such books can affect the preparation of aspirants.
- Multiple attempts means better marks: Most of the aspirants have this misconception that multiple attempts of NEET will eventually improve their ranks and thus they keep attempting NEET for a very long time. Aspirants should remember that NEET is not the sole purpose of life and hence spending many years is not recommended. Also, multiple attempts doesn’t guarantee success in NEET. Success comes from the hard-work, dedication, quality preparation and learning from previous mistakes.
