Recently, NTA has made a very important announcement for the aspirants of JEE Main 2025 regarding the exam pattern.
As we all know, NTA had changed the exam pattern due to the COVID-19 pandemic, introducing optional questions starting with JEE Main 2021. Earlier, NTA added five optional questions out of ten in Section B of each subject. This was done to reduce the challenges faced by the aspirants during their preparation for the pandemic.
As we all know, during the COVID-19 pandemic, everything, including the studies, got hampered, due to which many aspirants could not prepare properly for the upcoming JEE Main. As a temporary measure, NTA had decided to introduce 5 optional questions out of 10 questions in Section B of each subject. Following the United Nations World Health Organization’s declaration of the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency on May 5, 2023, the NTA had changed the format of JEE Main. However, with the significant reduction in the COVID-19 outbreak, the NTA has decided to revert to the old format of JEE Main starting from the year 2025. In the old format, section B had 5 questions in every subject, and the student needed to attempt all 5 questions; that is, the liberty of selecting the question has been removed from JEE Main 2025. This is applicable for both paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) and paper 2 (B.Arch and B. Planning).
From 2021 to 2024, there were 30 questions in each subject of JEE Main. Out of 30 questions, 20 were from section A and 10 were from section B. Questions from Section A were compulsory, whereas in Section B, aspirants have the option to choose any 5 questions.
