What is JoSAA?
JoSAA stands for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, an authority set up by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
It is responsible for managing and regulating the admission & seat allocation process for 118 prestigious engineering institutes in India.
These include 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 38 other government-funded technical institutions.
Other institutions such as Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Delhi, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) Chandigarh, and IIIT Bhubaneswar also participate in the JoSAA Counselling.
It is a centralised counselling process for admissions to various academic programs offered by these prestigious institutions.
JoSAA 2024 Counselling Highlights
The JoSAA 2024 Counselling will be started after JEE Advanced 2024 results are released.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will release the official schedule for the Counselling Sessions soon. The Date, choice filling, seat allocation rounds, and document verification of the Counselling Sessions have been scheduled and will be announced shortly on the official website of JoSAA.

JoSAA 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must fulfil the following eligibility criteria to participate in JoSAA Counselling 2024.
For Academic Programs at IITs
- Candidates must have qualified in JEE Advanced 2024
- Must have passed class XII or equivalent examination and secured at least 75% aggregate marks.
- The aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates should be at least 65%.
For Preparatory Courses at IITs
- Candidates must have qualified in JEE Advanced 2024 and satisfy the “Academic Performance in Class XII or equivalent examination” criteria.
For B.E./B.Tech. programs at NITs, IIEST, IIITs and Other-GFTIs
- Candidates must secure a rank in JEE Main 2024.
- Must satisfy the “Academic Performance criteria in Class XII or equivalent examination”.

JEE Main 2024 Special Round Counselling
The special counselling for vacant seats after JoSAA counselling will be organised by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).
Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)
The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) is constituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India,
- It is responsible for the seat allocation process for coordinated admissions based on the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) rank to various undergraduate degree programs in engineering, technology, and architecture in NITs, IIITs, IIEST, and other GFTIs.
- Central Seat Allocation Board also conducts a separate counselling CSAB SFTI for 18 Self Financing Technical Institutes (SFTIs).
- The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) 2024 registration will begin in October 2024 after the 6th round of JEE Main 2024 Counselling.
JoSAA Counselling Cutoff
- JoSAA releases JoSAA Counselling Cutoff with opening and closing ranks for all 6 rounds of JoSAA Counselling.
- The cut-offs for all rounds will be released on the official website of JoSAA.
