What to do after JEE Advanced result

IIT-JEE is one of the toughest exams in the country. It is the exam with one of the lowest selection ratios in the country. Students in 12th grade from the science stream are eligible for this exam. IIT-JEE is conducted in two stages, viz., JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JEE Main is conducted twice a year, whereas JEE Advanced is conducted once. This exam helps the students grab a seat in various top technical institutes like the IITs, IIITs, NITs, and other government-funded technical institutes for courses like B.E., B.Tech, B.Sc., etc. IITs are one of the most famous institutes where students get admission via JEE Advanced. This year, JEE-Advanced was conducted on May 26, 2024, in two shifts, from 9 to 12 in the morning and from 2:30 to 5:30 in the afternoon. However, this year was slightly different from the previous years. This year, more than 1.9 lakh students registered for the JEE Advanced examination. The total seats for UG level in all IITs are nearly 17,740, which nearly corresponds to at least 11 students competing for a seat in IIT at UG level in the year 2024. But as the JEE Advanced is over, students are confused about what to do after the JEE Advanced. Everyone advises students to prepare honestly and work hard, but rarely does anyone talk about what to do after JEE Advanced.

MENIIT is a new initiative by MADE EASY for students preparing for NEET and IIT-JEE. It offers offline classes for students from 9th to 12th and 12th pass students. In this blog, MENIIT will guide students about various things that can be done after their JEE Advanced so that they can utilize this time profitably.

What to do after JEE Advanced

The preparation for JEE Advanced itself is very difficult and requires a lot of constant hard work from the aspirants. Students burn midnight oil on a regular basis to get a good score. However, students are often confused regarding what to do next. In this section, this blog will explain what students can do after the exam. We have divided this section into two segments. In the first segment, we have discussed the time before the announcement of the results, and in the next segment, we have discussed what to do after the results.

Before the results

Students should not need to worry about the results after the exam, neither should they think too much about the exam. It is very important that students remain calm, and trust their hard work after JEE Advanced. They can develop some hobby, maintain their lifestyle, involve in some sports, or learn something new. Here we are listing few things that can be done in between the exam and the results.

  1. Visit some spiritual places: It is very important that students remain calm after their exam. Spiritual sites can be a good way to calm the mind. One can also read their spiritual text books for mental stability.
  2. Start workout: During the preparation for JEE Advanced, most of the students sideline their health; however, once the exam is over, it’s best time to look after their health. Students are advised to work-out regularly.
  3. Read books and newspaper: Reading books and newspapers is a very good habit. It develops thinking skills and enhances the overall personality. Newspapers keep readers aware of their surroundings. Since during the preparation of exams, most students confine themselves in their study room, around the books, they are not very aware of their surroundings. Newspaper reading is a good way to reconnect with the outside world.
  4. Learn any programming language or any technical skill: It’s very important to learn technical skills now a days. During the graduation from any technical institute one has to learn some technical skills, so it’s better to start beforehand. There are lots of stuff available on the internet related to coding, programming languages or some other technical skills. Students can learn any of them according to their comfort and resources.
  5. Develop a hobby: Students are mostly free after JEE Advanced; hence, it is the best time to learn any new hobby or work on their hobbies.
  6. Meetup with friends: It’s very much possible that you won’t get time after the results to meet your old friends, so better have a meetup, make memories, go on outings, have fun, etc.
  7. Stay in touch with your teachers and mentors: The relationship between teacher and student should not get over with the exam; the candidates should remain in constant touch with the teachers, well-wishers, and mentors.
  8. Plan a trip: Preparation for JEE Advanced is very hard for aspirants as well as for their families. Most of the aspirants don’t plan any trips before the exam; however, after the exam, this is the best time for the aspirants to plan a short trip.

These are certain tips regarding what to do before the result, it’s just a suggestion not compulsion. Students can decide on their own what they want to do. Let’s now discuss what to do after the results.

After the results

Once the results are declared, students should make their further plans according to the results. Here we are giving a general overview of what students should do after the declaration of results.

First of all, congratulations to all those who have cleared this examination!! You have worked really hard.

Those students who could not clear the examination should not get demotivated. You have also worked hard; however, it was just not your day. Don’t doubt your capabilities on the basis of a single examination.

In this section, we’ll address both types of students. Let’s first discuss what options are available to those students who have qualified for the examination.

  1. Participate in the counselling procedure. Keep yourself updated on all the news related to counselling.
  2. Stay in touch with teachers and mentors. This would help you stay updated regarding the top colleges and branches.
  3. Freeze your choice, if you’re getting good colleges.
  4. Enroll in the college and start your new journey.

Those students who could not clear JEE Advanced or didn’t get their dream college should not feel demotivated. It’s not the end. Consider it just a phase. If you have cleared the examination but are not getting into your favourite college, then you have the option either to prepare again or take admission to the college you’re getting into. Remember, no college would give you a guarantee of a good life and better placement. In the end, it’s all your efforts; the college or institute will just provide the degree and give you the resources, but in the end, it’s up to the students how they use those resources.

Those students who could not clear JEE Advanced 2024 also have two options: either to take admission in the college they are getting on the basis of their JEE Main ranks and score or to prepare again. They should not get disheartened; merely clearing JEE Advanced won’t give any salary, nor will it give any assurance of a good job. All these things depend on how effectively you utilize the tenure of graduation. JEE Advanced is just an exam for admission into some top technical colleges, so consider it just like an exam.
