Are you ready to appear for the JEE Main 2024 Exam Session 1?

For IIT JEE aspirants, it seems challenging to cover all important areas of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics comprehensively. Considering the concerns of the aspirant, today we will share with you some effective study techniques to get success in JEE Main 2024 with a good score.

In this blog post, we will discuss and understand what should be the right approach to score well in all subjects in the upcoming JEE Main 2024 exam & we will address some frequently asked questions with revision strategy and last-minute study tips for JEE Main 2024.

JEE Main 2024 Subject-wise Study Tips

The approach of your studies determines your success in the JEE Main 2024 exam. If you know how you have to approach the subjects, even the remaining time is enough.

Last-minute revision tips for Physics

As we know, Physics plays a very important role in the JEE Main.

Now the question arises: how should I approach this subject to score well?

How should I revise Physics?

  • Make a list of the chapters and identify your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Focus on quick revision of all important topics
  • Make sure that you have memorised all the important formulas well so that you can save precious time when solving numerical questions.

Important topic suggestions:

Class XI: Laws of Motion, Work Energy & Power, Gravitation, Thermodynamics.

Class XII: Electrostatics & Capacitor, Current Electricity, Ray Optics.

Questions asked from these chapters required knowledge of formulas. Mostly application-based questions are asked in JEE Main 2024. It is a good approach to make a formula sheet and short notes for these chapters.

Last-minute revision tips for Chemistry

Chemistry is the easiest and scoring subject. The questions asked in the JEE Main are both conceptual and numerical.

First of all, you must divide the Chemistry into three sections:
  • Physical Chemistry
  • Organic Chemistry
  • Inorganic Chemistry

Physical Chemistry

Of all the three sections, physical chemistry is the most important portion, where generally numerical and formula-based questions are asked. It is important to revise formulae, chemical reactions, chemical equations, and the periodic table to gain a strong grasp on the subject.

Some important Chapters: Chemical Thermodynamics, Chemical Kinetics, Atomic Structure

Inorganic Chemistry

Cover these chapters thoroughly: Coordination Compounds, Periodic Table, Chemical Bonding

Organic Chemistry: Basic Principles of Organic Chemistry and Hydrocarbons etc. In organic chemistry, revise all the important reactions given in the NCERT and revise which reactant gives which product under different conditions.

JEE Main 2024 Preparation tips to enhance your Chemistry preparation

  • Keep the pace steady.
  • Study your own handwritten notes for JEE Main.
  • Practice important concepts and numericals.
  • Revise important formulas and periodic tables
  • Use Mnemonics: Mnemonics can be helpful for memorising reactions and chemical formulas.
  • Solve previous year’s question papers.

Last-minute revision tips for Mathematics

Although Maths is a rank-deciding subject, you should prepare it well. Make a list of all important topics and divide them into two categories based on the type of question:

Easy (Direct Formula Based): (Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Definite Integration, Probability) These types of questions are easy to solve because direct and formula-based questions are asked from these chapters.

Complex-Fusion Questions: (Trigonometry, Logarithms, Functions, Differentiation) Complex (Fusion Questions) require concepts and formulas from more than one chapter, so these types of questions demand a strong problem-solving approach.

Important topic suggestions:

11th Category
Algebra and Conic Section Easy ( Direct Formula Based)

12th Category
Calculus Complex ( Fusion Questions)
Vector 3D  Easy ( Direct Formula Based)
Matrix and Determinants Easy to solve if concepts are clear

For mathematics, it is advisable to practice as many questions as you can.

Pro tips for JEE Main 2024 Exam

Solve PYQs: It’s very important because, in the end, you have to solve that type of question in the exam.

  1. Solving PYQs will help you understand question patterns and will help you to form an approach.
  2. It will help you check your chapter-wise understanding of concepts.
  3. Solving the previous year’s question paper is an efficient way to analyse the type of questions and chapter-wise weightage in JEE Main. However, the weightage of chapters in JEE Main can vary from year to year.
  • Error Analysis: Learn from your mistakes! Analyse your mistakes in mock tests and PYQs, and do not repeat those mistakes in the actual exam.
  • Always solve questions under a certain time; that will help increase your thinking abilities.
  • It is recommended to solve full-length mock tests from reputed coaching institutes. Revise the strong and weak areas that you already read once and solve more questions from that chapter.

At the end always remember, “Quality is greater than Quantity.” Read thoroughly whatever you are reading and approach it differently at the competitive level.

Final Word…..

For JEE Main 2024, with just a few days remaining, that doesn’t mean you can’t score well now. If you are prepared with the syllabus, then you can score well in all subjects with the right approach.

Remember that an effective strategy is to have a well-rounded preparation covering all exam-relevant topics, as the paper can be unpredictable.

  • Focus on understanding the concepts thoroughly.
  • Practice questions from each chapter.
  • One should not miss previous years’ questions practice.
  • Analyse mock tests thoroughly and identify your common mistakes.

Consistent practice, revision, and mock tests analysis will boost your confidence and help you perform well in the exam. We hope last-minute study tips can help you score well in the JEE Main 2024.

A complete revision is important in the last couple of days before the JEE Main Exam.

“Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before difficulties appear and obstacles vanish.”

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Should I practice PYQs from the deleted portion?

No, you can skip practicing PYQs from the deleted portion of the syllabus. Practice the latest syllabus PYQs and skip the deleted ones.

How many mock tests should an aspirant attempt before the JEE Main?

At Least 8 mock tests should be attempted before appearing for the JEE Main. Do not attempt more than one mock test in a day. Spend more time to analyse mock tests.

Is NCERT enough for JEE Main?

No, NCERT is not enough for the JEE Main. You have to approach the JEE Main syllabus at a competitive level. For inorganic Chemistry NCERT is a good source.

How much of a score in a mock test is a decent score before appearing for the JEE Main?

At least 80–90 marks are considered a good score, provided that you are attempting mock tests from a reputed coaching institute like MENIIT. If you are scoring above 90 marks, then it might be possible that your preparation level is good enough to be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. However, everything depends on the difficulty level of the paper.
