Dear NEET Aspirants,

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the information bulletin for filling the online application form for NEET (UG)- 2024.

In this blog post, we will discuss the important points from the NEET 2024 notification, and we will address some frequently asked questions.

As per the examination calendar released by NTA, NEET UG 2024 is scheduled for May 5, 2024.

Eligibility to appear in NEET (UG) 2024

Educational Qualification(s): A candidate must have passed 10+2 (intermediate) or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as main subjects and English individually from any recognised board of India.

Appearing candidates are also eligible to apply for NEET 2024.

Must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for General/EWS category and 40% for the OBC (NCL), SC/ST, and PWD categories in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology at the qualifying examination.

Age Criteria: A candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31 December of the year of his or her admission to the first year of the Undergraduate Medical Course.

The lower age limit: for all categories, born on or before December 31, 2007

Upper age limit: There is no upper age limit for applying to NEET (UG).

NEET 2024 Exam Pattern

  • The subjects covered are Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.
  • Each subject will consist of two sections.
  • Section A will consist of 35 Questions.
  • Section B will have 15 Questions, out of which candidates have to attempt any 10 Questions.

Important Points Regarding NEET UG-2024

Marking Scheme

For Section A (MCQs): If none of the options is found correct or a Question is found to be wrong or a Question is dropped then all candidates who have appeared will be given four marks (+4) irrespective of the fact whether the question has been attempted or not attempted by the candidate.

For Section B (MCQs): Candidates need to attempt any 10 Questions out of 15 Questions given. If a question is found to be wrong or the Question is dropped then Four marks (+4) will be awarded to all those who have attempted the question. The reason could be due to human error or technical error.

Medium of the Question Paper

  • Candidates opting for English would be provided a Test Booklet in English only.
  • Candidates opting for Hindi would be provided with a Bilingual Test Booklet in English and Hindi.
  • Candidates opting for Regional Languages would be provided with a Test Booklet in English + selected Regional Language.

Cities for Exam Centres for NEET (UG) – 2024 Examination

While filling up the Online Application Form, candidates can select four Convenient Cities as their Choice of Cities for the exam Centre in order of their priority. Choice of Centre Cities will be limited to the State of Permanent Address or State of Present Address only.

How to Apply Online for NEET UG 2024

Following are the steps to be followed :

  • Go to the official website of NEET: https://neet.ntaonline.in/frontend/web/
  • Register https://neet.ntaonline.in/frontend/web/registration/index
  • A new window will open. Read carefully the Instructions and Procedure for Online Submission of the Application Form and agree to the terms and conditions.
  • Register using Aadhar, Digilocker, ABC ID, Indian Passport, or PAN card.
  • After completion of the registration process, fill out the online application and submit the required documents.

Is there any change in the NEET 2024 syllabus with respect to the previous year?

Yes, there are some changes in the NEET syllabus. Some topics have been deleted. The NEET syllabus has been revised and reduced to focus on the core concept.

In Unit 2 of the Biology syllabus, it is written – “of an insect (Frog)”. But Frog is not an insect. What is the correct interpretation?

It should be read as “of an insect and a frog”.

There are a few topics included in the updated syllabus but those are not given in the new NCERT Books. Why?

These new topics have been added as these are being taught in various School Boards i.e. Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Bihar School Education Board(BSEB), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education, Nagaland Board of School Education, Board of Secondary Education Manipur. One can refer to the textbooks of these respective state boards to read those topics.
